On the Move #WordlessWednesday Painting Linky

As some of the readers here already know, we are getting ready to move. The recommendation way back in September was to paint the hall. So husband removed the wallpaper and then we hired a painter to come in and freshen the house up. The painting is almost done. We still need trim work. Now the tricky part – keeping it free of marks and kid’s fingerprints until we sell it.

What Makes a House a Home? – On The Move Series

I’ve been wrestling with this question a lot here lately. What makes a house a home? We have been in our London home for 14 years now.    We adopted our girls and started a family, launched careers, paused careers, watched, helped, travelled, threw dozens of birthday parties and created moments to remember. We got sick, then got better. We made friends, lost friends, saw loved ones pass away. We planned, we sang, we cooked, we celebrated and we grieved. We grew together. Now, we have grown to the point where we need to move. We have outgrown out neighbourhood…

Deep Relief Heat Therapy Yoga Gift Pack

In case you haven’t been around here for awhile, let me catch you up. We are in the process of renovating, painting and decluttering. We are packing lots of boxes and trying to live a regular semblance of family life. We now have a storage space and we are transferring clutter (toys, books, photos etc.) to a storage locker. This entails a fair amount of lifting. So to recap: boxes, renovations, regular fitness routines and Oh yeah pain in my back, and neck, and shoulders. Lifting is a pain literally. Then I got this Deep Relief Heat Therapy for review.…

Win a $10,000 Dream Kitchen – My Renovation Reveal #FinishYourKitchen

This is not my dream kitchen. It is my old kitchen. The one I cooked in for 13 years. The one I fed my babies in, the one that was childproofed and messed up, and raided, and cleaned – not often enough – perhaps, but hey life is busy. This is the kitchen where I dreamed of a business and then set it up, the one my girls crawled through and toddled through and ran through, where the old blue counters held the weight of their entire bodies as we perched to gaze into the yard at wild turkeys, where…

Looking for that one of a kind unique gift to share with a special family member this time of year? Or perhaps your art is old and a wee bit tired, like mine. I am in the process of decluttering and cleaning this house up so we can prepare to put our home on the market. While doing that I am evaluating what we stays and what goes. I am also eagerly aniticipating fresh starts. A blank wall is a canvas of sorts, that can take on whatever colour, shape, personality, or style you want.  When we get to where…

    Kitchen Transformation #LinkedMoms chat

Our kitchen has been the least appealing feature of our cozy home for years now. When we moved in we knew the kitchen needed upgrading, or a renovation. The kitchen was small, but so were we. We bought an apartment sized dishwasher and we used it a lot. Then our family grew. And life got busy. And our 40 year old kitchen started to fall apart. See the picture above – a couple of times my cupboard faces fell off and once the front of the cupboard near the sink fell and broke my toe.  I have hated my tiny…

Organizing and Rubbermaid All Access Bin Review

My Mom had a lot of collections. She collected dolls and angels and photos. When she passed away recently, many of her treasures came to me. There are a few special things I want to keep for my kids. As I mentioned, there are many beautiful collector dolls in great condition. My children are getting older, but I still don’t trust them not to break their grandma’s special cherished items. At the same time my storage space is at a premium. In fact it’s past capacity to overflowing here and we badly need a garage sale. I can’t keep half…
