How Do You Measure Eleven?
This was 11. This was 11. The year you grew maybe an inch in height. Not so much really compared to all the years that came before, but then again who really measures growth in inches? Eleven was the year you faced camp, for the first time on your own. A week with friends and it was glorious, or so I am told daily as the camp countdown begins another year. This was the year you finished grade six. The year I had to pull you out of school for two whole weeks because of a terrible fit between you and a classmate. The year you had to be moved…

Blue Mountain, Collingwood Scenic Caves #Travel
My kids have the hearts of explorers. So last week when we had the chance to stay at Blue Mountain Resorts, Westin Trillium House for a family blogger retreat and we saw that a visit to Collingwood Scenic Caves was on the schedule, well I knew we had to bring walking shoes and take photos. When I was a child my Mom drove us to Collingwood for family vacations in the summer. I vividly recall exploring Collingwood Scenic Caves and the Blue Mountain Resort area way back in the late 1980s. Collingwood was one of my Mom’s favourite Ontario destinations actually. Wondering how much the caves and the resort itself…

#WordlessWednesday My Parasailing Family #Travel
My family is daring. I am not. This is the photo I took of them getting ready to go parasailing. Five minutes after this photo the three of them were flying down the beach watching sea turtles and such from way too high for this Mom. Thank goodness the husband has no issue with heights at all.

#WordlessWednesday Macao Beach #travel
Earlier this year in Punta Cana, on Macao Beach, Dominican Republic. This was one of the nicest days we had there. Macao ranks highly as one of the top beaches in Punta Cana. I could easily see why. The sand is white, the sky is perfect blue and cloudless and the water is breath-taking. Plus lovely spot to go boogie boarding. You can read about our trip and when budget travel is the wrong choice here.

Dear Mom Camp Series -May- #MuskokaWoods
Dear Mom: Now I know we’ve covered most of this already and I know you’ve got some of my camps booked. And the end of school is coming fast now, in fact so fast I can almost start my countdown. But Mom, I really have to show you something cool. Remember Muskoka Woods? Well, it was one year ago when we got the awesome weekend to visit and try the big swing. I loved that place. The food was good, the counsellors Tippy and Brillo were amazing. But wait, here’s the cool part. I was playing on my iphone tonight and I found out they have an App. So can…

Dominican Butterflies #WordlessWednesday #travel
Now I kind of regret not buying one of these beautiful butterfly carvings. On a recent trip to Punta Cana we toured a coffee farm and a cocoa farm and watched them making these items. The youngest family members sold butterfly carvings an hair clips. They had a butterfly farm there too.
