The Odd Life of Timothy Green: #giveaway
I am so incredibly excited about the new movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green. The themes apparent within the movie, make me so happy to be a consumer. Special needs, adoption, the environment, family, infertility. How amazing! I can’t wait to see the screening at Blogher 12. You can see a screening too. I am giving away 1 family pass. So one winner will get a pass for four members of their family. Jennifer Garner stars in this story about a couple told they cannot have kids and the magical child that joins their family. (Can you see why I am excited?) The screening is in Mississauga on Thursday,…

Cooking With Kids – EASY Fudge #recipe
I have been anxious as can be for months now to get my paws on a simple fudge recipe. I found one this morning and wanted to pass this on. Three simple ingredients. Butter Condensed milk Brown sugar 1/2 lb of butter 2 cups of brown sugar 1can condensed milk. Put it all in a microwaveable bowl and microwave, so butter melts. Stirring in between. Then blend with the blender on medium for several minutes. Place the mixture in a cake pan. Parchment paper or wax paper liner helps. Chill for a few hours. Yummy. We sprinkled Skor bits on top for fun. And yes, indeed, it was just as…

Five Ways to Teach Your Children About The Olympics
The other day one of my followers asked on Twitter for some ideas on how to teach her children about the Olympics. I started to tweet her a pile of thoughts on this topic, but then realized I had several thoughts and most of these tips are ones we have done before, so hopefully your kids will find one or two they like also. With less than two weeks left to go before the Olympics London 2012 start, you have plenty of time to get these ideas together and plan some fun while learning as well. The London Olympics run from July 27th to August 12th. 1. Olympic books. Mary…

MAM Anti-colic baby bottle kit- #giveaway
It’s been a long time since my babies were babies. They grow so fast. My girls are now much too old for baby bottles, but I know a thing or two about fussy babies and children who were colicky. And as an adoptive parent I am an expert on bottle feeding. When my girls were wee ones there were plastic bottles only, and ones that were really not so healthy as we learned much later. I so wish we had known more then about BPA and PVC options. We switched to straight glass bottles with my youngest daughter as soon as we discovered how toxic the chemicals in some plastic…

Kidz Bop 22: #Giveaway – 3 winners
My little dancers have been lucky here lately, landing a few fun CDs. When Kidz Bop 22 arrived well, I barely got to see the envelope it came in, because it was slapped into the eight-year-old’s CD player faster than I could say, “Hey, no running in the house.” Kidz Bop is the same fun series you may recall from years ago. Kidz Bop kids debuted in 2001 by Razor & Tie. Kidz Bop 22 has some great selections on it – all Top 50 tunes right now – and it is extremely dance-able. These are 16 great kid friendly tracks on Kidz Bop 22. There are tracks from musicians I…

Funny Math or When Does 1 + 1= 5–Wordless Wednesday
Remember not so long ago – about four months now – when we got new baby GIRL guinea pigs?? The kids were so excited and each wanted one. They had a guinea pig named Cottonball for about three and a half years and then their pet died. We waited a suitable few months and then got Buttercup and Hope. Girls. Two girl guinea pigs. One for each of our girls. Let me say it one more time. Girls. Well, I went away for the weekend with my kids and then came back to notice Sunday – yes, literally that fast – that Hope was HUGE!! Looking seriously pregnant and eating…

When It Takes A Village – Dove #CelebrateMom
This post is part of YummyMummyClub.ca’s support of the Dove Celebrate Mom contest.I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. This post reflects my personal opinion about the information provided by the sponsors. You can nominate inspiring moms here: celebratemom.ca In many ways my family is the truth at the heart of that saying It Takes A Village To Raise A Child. It took a village to help us build a family and when we adopted our girls, both as infants, well I knew always that I would seek to find them strong role models to help guide them throughout their lives. I had many. My Mother, a single…

Cooking With Kids: Summer Blueberry Treats
It’s Thursday, so here we are cooking in the kitchen with kids. Easy peasy this week and yet, oh so yummy. I saw a variation of this on Pinterest and wanted to try it. So this is what we started with. Oh so yummy and nutritious blueberries. Did you know they are a superfood? Yes, they are. Also they contain great nutrients that help your skin and protect your brain from Alzheimer’s Disease. I love that. Then I added this. My favourite yogurt. I can generally only find at Costco. And we rolled all the delicious berries in yogurt. And we froze them for a couple of hours. And oh…
