I’m a gal who loves jewelry. Jewelry and flowers – these are the way to my heart. Valentine’s Day jewelry is a winning gift every time in my opinion. Some of my favourite gifts have been charms for my bracelets. Necklaces and earrings always work for me too. For me, the beauty of a new piece of jewelry lies in the memory or emotion attached to it. Sometimes that’s as simple as recalling how happy and loved you felt when your kids, or your partner, gave you that new necklace or pair of earrings. Every time you put it on, you remember…

Do you have a winter emergency kit? Have you considered what would happen if you got stranded in a snowstorm or other wintery weather disaster? Here’s hoping you never are in that situation, but what if you were? Weather related weirdness is the rule rather than the exception in so many areas of the world right now. So, it makes sense to be prepared for anything that comes your way. It’s common sense when traveling during the harsh winter months, whether it be just across town or several miles or hundred miles away to always keep an Emergency Kit in your…

I don’t know about you but winter months tend to bring out the outdoor enthusiast side of me. Maybe that’s weird but it’s how we cope here in my family in Ontario, Canada. We head out to ski, or travel, or combine the two and take a trip to somewhere snowy. But, that said I know many friends who hibernate right now, spending their days dreaming of travel, or reading a book curled up with tea or coffee and a comfy blanket. Others spend the hours cooking, baking or crafting. The winter crafts and recipes are everywhere right now…

Cheap flight hacks should be on the top of your list if you plan to take even one flight this year. Airline prices can be brutally expensive. That expense is compounded if your entire family is flying. When you multiply the high cost of airfare by three or more (depending on how many kids you have) your price to fly can be astronomical. Because airfare can be so hard on the wallet, I’ve put together a list of cheap flight hacks that can help you get the most mileage for your dollar on any flight. Cheap Flight Hacks for More…

This is a sponsored post and I received product for consideration here. Luxury sheets are something that I rarely buy for myself. Honestly, have you seen the prices on some of the sheets out there? I can choose between buying wonderful, comfortable sheets or a week’s worth of groceries. I’m sorry, but with two teenagers in the house, groceries win out. New sheets are one of those items, like towels, that I just don’t shop for until we have to. That means I usually sleep on sheets that are good enough, but that aren’t exactly super cozy. That’s why I’m…

This posts contains affiliate links as a service. I receive a small commission on purchases made via qualifying links. To gift or not to gift, that is the Valentine’s Day question. Basically if you are asking, then pretty much the answer is always get a Valentine’s gift, or even Valentine’s Day gifts. Now, it doesn’t necessarily have to be huge or expensive, but you should cover all bases and be sure that your loved one is not disappointed or upset if you ignore the day altogether. But chocolate and candy are so overdone. I mean honestly a box of chocolates, while…

Our first trip of the new year was to Holiday Valley Ellicottville and I can now see what all the buzz is about for skiers. Upstate New York is a pretty quick drive from several areas of Ontario and for us it was about 4 hours door to door. The ski runs were lovely, wide and long, and several of the blues won my heart fast. Despite a not very snowy early January, we took our chances and drove down at the tail end of Christmas break. Luckily the snow was decent and we enjoyed about 30 of the runs.…

This post was sponsored by DK Canada. Self-improvement is always on the top of everyone’s list when the new year rolls around. Whether we’re trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle, balance work and home life, or just broaden our horizons, self-improvement always takes the front spot in our minds this time of year. It’s no different for me and my family. This year, we’re improving ourselves with my favourite publisher, DK Canada. Three Self-Improvement Books for My Family Travel and learning always top my family’s list of ways to improve ourselves, and the books I recently received from DK…

Setting goals this year took a bit longer than usual. Admittedly it is now half way through January already, so I am late. But anyone who knows me personally knows time is something I strive to bend at will. LOL. Typically every year I do an exercise where I challenge myself to pick a word of the year or a phrase that guides my personal and business philosophy for the year ahead. This year, I honestly couldn’t think of one until about a week ago and then I was simply way too busy working on numerous jobs to actually write it…

Are you hunting for Valentine Games? Maybe something fun to give the kids that’s not chocolate or candy…Remember I spy? It’s pretty timeless actually and a classic travel game. Now, can you also remember those gigantic I Spy game books. Yes, those ones. They can be so much fun actually, not unlike Where’s Waldo? An I Spy book or game can be hours of entertainment. So this year for Valentine’s Day I thought it would be fun to add to the Valentine’s games and craft an I Spy game to add to my long list of fun word games here…
