Easy Fun Eco-Printing Craft for Youth and Up

    May 11, 2020 /

Here’s a craft that you have probably never done before. Eco-printing is a fun way to make pretty cards and writing paper. The materials involved are simple and can mostly be found in and around your neighbourhood. My oldest daughter Payton did this one and came up with the idea then helped document the steps here. Basically, you just need to go for a walk around the neighbourhood to gather leaves, petals and buds. The more colourful the better. Don’t…

Embracing Art with DK Canada #Giveaway #ad

    November 6, 2017 /

Embracing art is a great way to expand our children’s horizons. The arts are an important part of mental stimulation. Participating in the arts or just appreciating them activates different parts of the brain from other forms of education interaction, and it’s really quite beautiful. My oldest daughter is an artist, and she’s always buried in either her sketch pad or an art book. She’s been taking a lot of art courses, so I thought a few books from DK Canada would encourage her love of art and make embracing art a continued part of her daily life. Embracing Art with Great Books from DK Canada If you’ve read my…

    August 10, 2017 /

The village at the base of Mont-Tremblant is awake in a riot of Blues, Purples and Golds. Spotlights, instruments, televisions, bleachers decorate the pedestrian village. Crowds of all ages fill the streets and common spaces between restaurants and shops. Here the sights and sounds of the International Blues Festival wake you up and lull you to sleep in the middle of the month of July at gorgeous Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. On the 24th ever occasion of the Festival International Du Blues De Tremblant I am visiting with a group of travel writers. Tallahassee Florida – Five Must See Destinations #travel

    March 17, 2017 /

Tallahassee Florida is the seat of the state’s democracy and home to two well known universities – Florida State University, and Florida A&M University. Although known for its collegiate football, Tallahassee Florida is also the trade and agricultural center of the Big Bend region. If you’re planning a trip to Florida, Tallahassee has a few must see destinations. They might not be as recognizable as their college football teams, but are no less exciting. Tallahassee Florida – More than College Football Tallahassee Florida might be known mainly for The Gators, but there is so much more to see here than just stadiums and the gridiron. The city has a lot to…

    Shrek The Musical #WordlessWednesday

    December 3, 2014 /

This past week we went to see Shrek The Musical at The Grand Theatre in London, Ontario. The Grand is a local asset to the arts scene and it is often very family friendly. Both of our girls enjoy the theatre and always have because we have always taken them to see age appropriate plays. My older daughter has of course also done the local youth theatre group in our town too. The girls have a deep appreciation and admiration and respect for theatre and the arts. In fact, they enjoy theatre as much, or maybe even more, than I do. We are super lucky in this area of Ontario to…

The Hundred-Foot Journey Review – A Sumptuous Must See Summer Movie

    August 7, 2014 /

The Hundred-Foot Journey is a real delight. This movie will steal your hearts and make you want to take your own parents to see the lovely story. Charlotte Le Bon, Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal in The Hundred-Foot Journey also starring Om Puri Last month I had the chance to preview the sweet, sensuous, film The Hundred-Foot Journey when I was in San Jose, California. It’s always a treat to see a film at the Blogher conference, but this one was unique and especially well told. The Hundred-Foot Journey is a story of culture and food, passion and love set against the backdrop of the magnificent countryside in the south…
