How To Cope With Teen Mood Swings Now

    December 20, 2018 / No Comments

Teen  mood swings and hormones can be hard to handle. That might be the understatement of the year. Of all the ages and stages of child development the teenage years can be the hardest. One moment your teen is engaging and strong willed and they have clearcut ideas and opinions and they can carry on great conversations with you on topics like social justice and politics. And then the very next day they are slamming doors, shrugging at every thing you say, seemingly incapable of more than one word answers. Parenting teens is a Jekyll and Hyde experience. You never know which one will show up at breakfast or after…

Nuryl Baby Brain App Using Smart Music

    November 24, 2016 /

Have you heard of Nuryl app? Perhaps you should pay attention to this new baby brain app. Smart music equals a smart baby. It’s true. Science has shown that children who engage in musical activities do better in school across the board, especially in math. That same connection between music and better learning holds true for babies as well. That’s why Rick Beato, classically trained musician and former professor, developed Nuryl app. It’s a music app designed to boost baby’s cognitive development. So smart music really does qual a smart baby. When my daughters were very small I read a lot about brain development. At that time there was a children’s…

Easter Word Search for KIDS! I already have one here for kids and adults alike and they are pretty popular. So I figured it was time for another printable word game. Happy Easter my friends! I thought it would be fun to offer a few printables for Easter! I am partial to word searches so I thought perhaps you might all enjoy an Easter word search for kids for a bit of fun! Plus it’s free so, hello. Don’t forget to print out these lunchbox jokes too for Easter. My one daughter loves these and I loved them as a child too. The Art of Hope and Parenting Teens

    February 17, 2015 /

At some point this past year I realized my children aren’t really children anymore, not in the strictest sense of the word. One is a teenager and the other a tween and that means that in the context of child development they are in fact closer to being adults than they are to being toddlers or preschoolers or children. My heart simultaneously leaps, shouts, cries, expands and contracts as I write that. As they bloom so do I, and yet it also tugs heavily when I think that they will soon be adults. Oh my god how I hope we still have a lifetime together. How I hope I will…

Hot Collector Toys for Christmas #TMMGG2014

    November 11, 2014 /

Mutant Mania arrived here this week and I originally thought, well this is just another trendy toy. But, then we started playing with them together, my daughter and I, and I really found myself enjoying these hot collector toys. First thing to know, these are not for teeny people under five years old or anyone who puts too many toys near their mouth. They are, however, extremely fun hot collector toys. The heads and bodies of Mutant Mania Mix and Match Wrestlers come apart and can be interchanged to make each tiny figure into something different. These are so much fun they make the grade for me in the school aged…

    New Barbie Amaze Chase Feature

    October 24, 2014 /

No big secret here that my kids are Barbie fans. So, when we heard this new movie featuring Barbie was coming out we had to see it to believe it. Some days I am still certain Barbies are hatching a plot to take over my house. My one daughter has collected Barbies since she was two. I have written about our Love for Barbie often over the years. I fact my daughter’s love of Barbies is well documented. But what about my Barbie beginnings?       Timeless Toys Look Like This In the 70s and 80s I grew up with Barbie and I can still recall every last dreamy pink Barbie…

Brownie Camp and Where Have Seven Years Gone?

    June 6, 2009 /

Well one week worth of packing and running around hunting for labels for my daughter’s belongings and Brownie camp appears to have gone smashingly. We dropped my seven-year-old off at Brownie Camp Friday night together. The whole family gave her a send off and wished her well, even if it was only for a very short weekend away. There’s a small camp site just outside London, close to St. Thomas that the local Brownie camp uses every year just outside London. She has been looking forward to this for weeks, so we worked hard to make sure it would happen and then gave her the big family send off yesterday.…
