How to Avoid Common Skin Hazards of Swimming

June 20, 2019 / Comments Off on How to Avoid Common Skin Hazards of Swimming

In the summer, we spend a lot of time at the pool. It’s our happy place and honestly also the focal point of my summer workout routine. Being able to jump in the pool after dinner, or on a scorching hot long weekend afternoon makes June, July and August worth looking forward to all year long. But, that said, swimming and sunny days take a toll on your skin. We all know that firsthand. But what can you do about it? Learning how to avoid common skin hazards of swimming can help swimmers manage water-related skin diseases and irritations while enjoying the pool again. Be a Bathing Beauty Constant contact…

Bring on The Sun, Summer Fun Awaits!

    June 18, 2018 / 7 Comments

Summer fun is right around the corner. The sun is out, the temperatures are finally where they should be. It’s time to get out and enjoy the warmer months. I am a July baby. So is my oldest daughter. We seem to come by our love of summer naturally. It’s a happy, calm sort of season that breeds a feeling of contentment. We love to take road trips and hit the beach when the weather turns warm. And we have a pool, so as soon as the pool opens we are in summer fun mode. Pool parties, beaches and family travel are some of my favourite things. But every single…

What are the best ways to celebrate that last day of school? There are many ways to mark the accomplishment of finishing another year of school. This school year has flown by. June is almost here! There is nothing quite like the excitement of a child who is climbing off the bus after the last day of school. It truly is a landmark day for both kids and parents! Rocky’s Reels – Helping Us Take Better Care of Our Pool

    August 24, 2017 / 20 Comments

Rocky’s Reels is helping us take care of our pool with our new easy to use pool reel. As you might recall, we recently got a new solar cover for our pool, but we really needed to replace our old pool reel too. Just like our old cover, our old pool cover reel had seen better days. We inherited our old reel from the prior owners of our house. It was cheap plastic, rusty and heavy, and made it awkward to roll up our pool cover. I’m excited to say out with the old and in with the new pool reel from Rocky’s Reels to complete our pool care makeover…

Water Safety – Keeping Kids Safe While They Have Fun

    August 8, 2017 / 7 Comments

Water safety is something that should be in the forefront of every parent’s mind. Whether you have a pool, love the water park, visit the beach, or go swimming in your local lake or river, being safe on and near the water is crucial. All it takes is a few seconds for a tragedy to happen. Parents and caregivers can keep kids safe by making sure we practice proper water safety at all times. Why Water Safety is so Important Our kids were babies when we began swimming lessons through the Red Cross Canada program. Swimming is a lifeskill that is not negotiable for me. I was a late swimmer…

Great Swim Training Gear by Finis

June 29, 2016 / Comments Off on Great Swim Training Gear by Finis

Pool weather is here finally and Finis has the best swim training gear for performance. This summer we are using Finis swim training gear to help take our swimming to the next level. We’re working on building endurance and having fun too. This weekend I got I back from my trip to Indian River and Martin County, Florida and my pool was finally back to normal. We were getting kind of impatient waiting for the liner to be done and the lights to be updated and the stairs had some work too. [tweetthis]Finis has all the swim training gear you need to build your swim skills and improve your stroke.[/tweetthis]…

The Best Seat in the Pool – SwimWays Spring Float

    June 30, 2014 / 5 Comments

You might have heard – we bought a new house with a pool a few months ago. This is our first summer enjoying our pool and we are still on a learning curve. We have a few pool toys, such as the usual pool noodles and inflatable rafts, but we didn’t have any super pool recliners until this week when SwimWays sent a Spring Float pool float for us to test out. The Canada Day weekend weather has been perfect and we unpackaged the Spring Float recliner chair so we could throw our first ever pool party here. Now, the SwimWays Spring Float clearly says that it is to be…
