There is something about Spring time and Easter that brings to mind fresh starts. The windows have finally been thrown open here after a long winter and we are enjoying being able to take walks, riding the bikes, and being able to explore our new yard. This year we will be starting new Easter traditions in our new home. There’s something exciting about that also. One tradition I look forward to every year is the Easter Egg Hunt. It’s a hold over from my own childhood and it brings out the child in everyone. Treats and Toys that are Safe…

Ontario’s infertility community reacted with many emotions this week to news that IVF will soon be funded. That’s long awaited for many who took two or three jobs and sometimes used credit cards and second mortgages to be able to pay for health care treatment needed to get the health care treatment prescribed. Last Thursday, Ontario’s Minister of Health and Longterm Care Deb Matthews announced that public funding would be made available for in vitro fertilization. IVF funding is part of the draft budget officially. The funding will take place starting in 2015. An advisory committee or board will be…

What does infertility look like? You might be surprised. Very often someone you know has already been struggling with infertility. Many times there are underlying medical issues that contribute to infertility. You might be surprised to know that in all likelihood someone on your street has intimate experience with struggling to conceive. One in 6 people struggle with infertility. Take a moment to think about that. What does infertility look like? Sometimes it’s a couple who may never know the cause of their infertility. Sometimes infertility is a young married person like Danielle who learns at 25 they cannot conceive…

How we tackle tough topics in my family is something I often talk about here. Period talk is no different. It’s just part of being a parent. Periods are as natural as showering, eating and sleeping here. So why shy away from period talk? Starting and continuing the period conversation is an important part of parenting and a vital part of development for young girls too. This post is part of the YummyMummyClub.ca and Always Tampax sponsored program. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. This post reflects my personal opinion about the information provided by…

Fairway Solitaire Blast is the perfect app for your card loving friend or family member. I have a card shark in my house. One of my daughters loves cards and she has from the time she was little. It’s freakish to watch actually. She’s like a little card savant. Card games are relaxing for her and she’s incredibly good at them. Even Go Fish is a competitive event in our house. It’s comical, in fact, how often she beats everyone in this house at games like War, Snap, Go Fish. Crazy Eights is another favourite and Old Maid too. So…

Bye Bye Winter. It’s Hurricane season. Hurricane Ainsley season that is. Spring fever has hit hard here – FINALLY. I am not complaining. It was a long snowy, cold winter and we are still not entirely free of the season. There is still frost on the rooftops here most mornings and it’s April 1st! But the first hint of spring in our area of Ontario, Canada and my kids were racing outside knocking on doors in our new neighbourhood trying to make new friends. New Nerf toys like Nerf Rebelle helped start new friendships. We moved into our new…

It hit me hard in the card aisle. Grief. Such a sneaky emotion. Tricking you and then hiding behind obstacles in the open. Like a thief hiding behind doors and in alleys waiting to pounce out and holler. Friday was my Mom’s birthday. The first birthday we haven’t spent together and also the first birthday since she passed away. It rained a lot here and it was, without doubt, the hardest day I have had since she left us. Way harder than Christmas. Grief Finds You in the Card Aisle One week ago I was standing in the grocery store…

Time to start planning for summer and stocking up on pool and beach gear. Hapari Swimsuits are helping me do just that this season. Hapari swimsuits are some of my favourites because of the price and the adorable styles. Also they stay put and are good quality. Spring is here or so they keep telling us. It’s pretty hard to find any evidence of spring here in my new neighbourhood, where everything is still covered in snow. Many of my readers know we moved recently. Our new house has a pool, so we are pretty excited about our first summer in…

I remember this as if it was yesterday. Our first ever family trip to Disney was a super special memory for all of us to treasure now and for life. Disney is a rite of passage and a journey that everyone hopes to take at some point in their lives. Our First Visit to the Magic Kingdom I felt like posting this Throwback Thursday today. Lately, I am craving travel madly. Craving travel to Disney even more than usual. I miss the happiest place on earth. Plus I think we need a break. Anyways this was our first family…

Mom, when can I wear makeup? My oldest daughter started asking about wearing makeup when she was ten. In my head I call her my breadcrumb daughter. She always leaves me little clues as to what she has been up to, almost as if she wants to be caught when she does something out of character or defiant. And around that time, my tubes of mascara went missing. Without much detective work, I could quietly find them in her desk drawer, or in her backpack. I mostly chalked that one up to curiosity. But the questions started then – at…
