In the summer, we spend a lot of time at the pool. It’s our happy place and honestly also the focal point of my summer workout routine. Being able to jump in the pool after dinner, or on a scorching hot long weekend afternoon makes June, July and August worth looking forward to all year long. But, that said, swimming and sunny days take a toll on your skin. We all know that firsthand. But what can you do about it? Learning how to avoid common skin hazards of swimming can help swimmers manage water-related skin diseases and irritations while…

This post was sponsored by Nixplay. I received product for consideration here. My opinion is my own. Years ago I bought my Mom a digital photo frame. I still remember the novelty of the product and how fun it was having our family photos on display digitally in her condominium. That was at least a decade ago now when digital photo frames were really not what I’d call smart photo frames. Smart Photo Frames are the Smart Way to Display Your Photos But times change and electronics are getting smarter every day. When I had the chance to check out…

Cruise etiquette is crucial to an enjoyable cruising experience. When everyone on the ship is on their best behaviour, all of the cruise guests have the best time. However, there are always a few cruisers who either disregard some major cruise etiquette infractions, or just don’t know them. Don’t be that girl, or that guy. There are some things on a cruise that you just shouldn’t ever do. I’ve seen many of these play out and honestly you are not making any friends by hogging all the loungers on the deck and then disappearing for the day to eat or…

Guest post by Andrea Barnhill of Weekend Wander Club It’s a perfect dream to spend bright and lazy summer days just lying in hammocks under palm trees or walking barefoot in the sand while the water splashes softly against your skin. Not too far away, you can hear children’s squeals of delight, giving you peace of mind that they’re safe and enjoying nature at its best. Puerto Rico’s Family-Approved Destinations at Under $200 You can have all these experiences and more in Puerto Rico, the largest territory in the Caribbean Sea that’s still part of the US. For US citizens,…

WE are huge dinosaur nuts here. We can’t get enough of them actually. Ever since we watched the first Jurassic Park movie the kids have been mesmerized. Well, to be honest they were both super into dinosaurs when they were small. But then they kind of lost interest for a bit. In between all of our Marvel movie marathons and the Harry Potter phase too (which frankly is still ongoing), we rediscovered a love of dinosaurs. My youngest daughter’s latest obsession with dinosaurs is drawing them and she’s getting pretty good. Of course dinosaur crafts are a huge hit too.…

Use these Sign Language Flash Cards and Memory Game to nurture a love of languages this year. These are perfect for any age. I have been a language lover from the time I was young. At about 7 years old I wrote a booklet with a male classmate. It was grade two, I think, and we made a big splash with our words and storytelling and I knew pretty much from that age that I’d be a writer in some capacity. In those early days language and learning and words were everything to me. Family too, of course. Things haven’t…

This post was sponsored by Hamilton Beach Canada. I received product for consideration here. This post contains affiliate links. Summer parties are a big part of our lives when the warm months finally get here. Sure, my family loves winter and all the fun it has to offer, but living in Canada, we’re so ready for the warmth when it finally comes. That’s why we have as many summer parties as we can when the weather is with us. Tips for Smashing Summer Parties Because I know how much we all love having family and friends over for those warm…

Have you ever had one of those nights where you wake up with a pain in your calf that simply won’t go away? Trust me, I know your pain. Painful night-time leg cramps are common here. Every few weeks I bolt out of bed at night and have to walk out that painful knot. I’ve tried sleeping through it or massaging the calf, but once it wakes me up the only way to stop it seems to be the walk about. Strangely this is one odd health quirk I think I inherited from my Mom. I still remember her bolting…

This post has been sponsored by RVshare, which means I received compensation. Just last fall we took our first ever RV trip. It was something we had been talking about forever. When we got started we fell hard for the RV lifestyle. That RV road trip through Northern Ontario was one of our favourite family adventures. But we don’t own an RV and yet we’d love so much to do this again some day soon. If you are at all thinking the same thing, you might be excited to hear about an RV rental that can help you experience the…

Setting – the largest winter playground in North America. We are flying down Everest, a human chain of inner tubes, each of us squealing deliciously, eyes squeezed shut, hearts drumming loudly in our ears. The vertical plummet straight down, as soon as the gate lifts, has me clutching even harder to handles on either side of my tube while simultaneously also wrapping my triceps around my younger daughter’s boots and grounding us both. All that planking at the gym literally paying off right now in this moment as we scream all the way down. At the bottom, when the ground…
