For the first year ever I am taking part in Janice and Susan’s Ultimate Blog Party 2012. If you haven’t heard of Janice and Susan, founders and publishers over at Five Minutes For Mom, well I will just assume that you are new to the blogging world. Five Minutes For Mom is one of those on line destinations where all the cool Moms hang out. This year the dynamic team has gathered over $21,000 in prizes to be given away on line this week. Say What? No, that is not a typo. I couldn’t believe it myself. Anyways, there are numerous…

Does your child worry? Chances are good, if they are preschoolers on up, there are times their little minds won’t turn off the busy actions of the day. Or times their thoughts are racing. Sensitive children, gifted children, children with special needs, perfectionists, or simply children who spend a lot of time thinking. All children at one time or another handle worry, or anxiety. That’s just part of life. These days, worry and anxiety seems to be more prevalent among children than ever before. Healthy adults handle worries and anxieties every day. But most healthy adults have a toolkit of…

The gorgeous latest Disneynature film Chimpanzee hits theatres on April 20th, just in time for Earth Day. But my daughter and I were invited by Disney to attend an exclusive early preview in Waterloo Saturday. I knew enough to expect brilliant cinematography as in all the Disneynature series. These incredible voyages and educational glimpses into life in a particular habitat are remarkable always. Chimpanzee, narrated by Tim Allen, is every bit as spectacular as Planet Earth in its film sequences, close ups and fast speed transition scenes. I didn’t expect the adoption theme that caught me off guard. Now adoption…

True Confession time: I steal my kids IronKids gummy vitamins. All. The. Time. I love them. So how happy was I when I discovered that Life Science Nutritionals, the Canadian company that makes IronKids had started making Adult Essentials Gummies. Oh I was over the moon, doing happy handsprings in the aisles of the grocery store where I get them. (Well not literally, but I might be by the time I finish this three month stint on the full regimen) I am an ambassador for Adult Essentials Gummy vitamins with ShesConnected. This is the first of my posts about my…

Well as it is Thursday here I am again cooking with my kids. We did a ton of cooking at Easter and little one helped like mad. She loves to be in the kitchen, blending, cracking, stirring and reading the recipe directions. This year I was the Easter hostess and we needed a little help, so I began hunting like mad and found a great glaze for my ham. Now it looks nasty when making it, but my daughter loved, loved, loved knowing she had made such a perfect part of the meal. This glaze is not my own recipe.…

This past year has been a terribly busy roller coaster of moving my Mom to a retirement home and trying to negotiate a whole new stage of life. It is compromising and working with a sibling whether you want to or not. Planning financially and making gut-wrenching life choice and health care decisions for my parent. It is forgetting to breathe. It is being cross-eyed exhausted from travel back and forth to a different city. It is busier than ever could have been predicted. It is me, now being the hostess of every family dinner/ holiday celebration because I moved…

Remember this? Last month when multiple school failures led us to the front door of the school board office. On a day when the school failed my daughter yet again, we went in search of someone in person who would listen to the list of angry complaints I had. We found a superintendent and we eventually had more meetings and more emails and more phone calls and things have settled into a somewhat more supportive routine again. Many of you sent us tweets and facebook status updates and replies and emails regarding how disgusting the whole situation was. Many of…
