Menopause changes everything. But it doesn’t have to be horrid. Menopause generally occurs between the ages of 40-50 years old and it is basically a big hormone shift that causes all sorts of side effects including hot flashes. I remember my Mom and her friends talking about hot flashes. They sounded bizarre to a kid at the time, and now it’s my friends talking hot flashes. Hot flashes are basically just an episode of when you get really hot and begin sweating profusely, they come out of nowhere and they can feel awful! Sometimes these hot flashes last for just a couple…

Going Green Can Be a Challenge I have to admit, I had big plans for our family going green when we started. I imagined every speck of recycling making its way to the bin and doing far more upcycling. While my family has made great strides towards reducing our impact on the environment, there’s still more that we can do. Don’t get me wrong, we’re really pretty good at recycling, but we still face some challenges. My kids are actually the best at recycling, because they grew up with the campaign on television and at school. My oldest daughter is vigilant…

ADVENTURES in appliance shopping: We are price matching our butts off over here appliance shopping. We need a new dishwasher and a new refrigerator. We really need a new laundry set too, but we are prioritizing the refrigerator and dishwasher for now because old dishwasher will die any day and currently makes weird noises sometimes. Also our fridge is old and small and doesn’t close right. So we are appliance shopping and we have been doing that on and off, for months. I think we’ve both had just about enough actually. Flipp App helps for some of that and then there’s…

Since my one daughter’s play ended, we’ve been getting back to family movie night here. That means we’ve had some enjoyable evenings snuggling together, watching highly amusing and sometimes really moving movies. One week ago we watched Max, which I highly recommend for anyone over 7 or 8. It was a great show about dogs used in war. This past weekend we watched Inside Out, which we all loved. Inside Out is a comical and really witty romp through one little girl’s mind. Do you ever wonder what’s going on in someone’s mind? Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out” takes an exciting and…

Fast cars have never really been my thing. I’m more of a minivan driving Mom who, up until recently, never got a speeding ticket in her life. I didn’t grow up with Nascar nostalgia. So how did this happen? How did I end up touring Daytona International Speedway on a recent trip through Central Florida’s Daytona Beach area, and more importantly how did I find myself enjoying the experience, even plotting a return one day to see more? Well, let’s see….where should I start? Sometimes I find myself in odd places. Sometimes I am incredibly surprised that I enjoy doing something I…
