Adaptive Ski Programs for People with Disabilities

Children with special needs face challenges that other kids don’t. Whether their disability is physical, mental or neurological, children and adults with special needs require extra support with certain activities. Many ski resorts are getting excellent at meeting this need. I have seen some adaptive ski programs at family friendly resorts like Smugglers’ Notch in action. Some are super impressive so I thought I would share a list for families like ours. Adaptive Skiing Shines at These Ski Resorts Children and adults with special needs face barriers too many places still. So when I find a resource with adaptive or inclusive programs sometimes…

Canadian at Par – 5 Ski Resorts That Don’t Break the Bank

Canadian at par. Those are the sweetest words any Canadian can hear when they’re travelling to the U.S. The Canadian dollar is often very low compared to the U.S. dollar. What that means for Canadian travellers is that we often pay far more on our trips to the States. This post has been updated to reflect 2020 information.  At an exchange rate of 1.3 to 1.4, we can pay hundreds more for trips to the US versus trips to Europe or even domestic getaways. Sometimes that means staying in country and not visiting the US at all. BUT, that doesn’t always…

What Can You Expect From a Stay at Smugglers’ Notch Family Ski Resort, Vermont? #travel #smuggs

This January we took our skis and hit the road, or the skies actually. Riding The Cat Trax Express Up Madonna Mountain at Smugglers’ Notch

We are climbing up the side of Madonna Mountain. It feels like we are hanging pretty much vertically inside the cabin of a decommissioned trail groomer, defying gravity. My brain tells me this is impossible, but I am willing to give it a try. The kids are vibrating with anticipation. Fingers crossed, I am hoping that this ride rewards me with the most spectacular view at the top of the mountain. I plan to try to capture some of the Cat Trax evening Upper Mountain Tour experience in pictures that will last me long after we have left Smugglers’ Notch family ski resort,…
