Three Resorts with Adaptive Ski Programs for Special Needs

    January 10, 2017 /

Children with special needs face challenges that other kids don’t. Whether their disability is physical, mental or neurological, children and adults with special needs require extra support with certain activities. Many ski resorts are getting excellent at meeting this need. I have seen some adaptive ski programs at family friendly resorts like Smugglers’ Notch in action. Some are super impressive so I thought I would share a list for families like ours. Children with Special Needs Can Shine at These Ski Resorts Children and adults with special needs face barriers too many places still. So when I find a resource with adaptive or inclusive programs sometimes I want to celebrate. Resorts with Adaptive Ski…

Canadian at Par – 5 Ski Resorts That Don’t Break the Bank

    November 22, 2016 /

Canadian at par. Those are the sweetest words any Canadian can hear when they’re travelling to the U.S. The Canadian dollar is often very low compared to the U.S. dollar. What that means for Canadian travellers is that we often pay far more on our trips to the States. This post has been updated to reflect 2020 information.  At an exchange rate of 1.3 to 1.4, we can pay hundreds more for trips to the US versus trips to Europe or even domestic getaways. Sometimes that means staying in country and not visiting the US at all. BUT, that doesn’t always have to be the case. Here are some great U.S.…

Our Winter Ski Getaway – Parkbridge Life Lakes of Wasaga Ontario Resort Suits Your Family All Year Round – #ParkbridgeLife

    March 3, 2016 /

Need a place to stay that’s flexible enough for a family of 4, or a family of 8? An Ontario Resort that’s not hard on the budget and close to several Collingwood ski hills and tourist attractions? Parkbridge Lakes of Wasaga Resorts is perfect for any time of the year, and their ski chalets are absolutely gorgeous. Parkbridge Resorts can be your home away from home for a winter weekend, a summer break, or a longterm commitment. This February we found ourselves with a long weekend and a few days off of the kid’s rehearsal schedules and extracurriculars (Hallelujah!!) so we decided it was time for a winter getaway. There was no…

What Can You Expect From a Stay at Smugglers’ Notch Family Ski Resort, Vermont? #travel #smuggs

    February 19, 2016 /

This January we took our skis and hit the road, or the skies actually. We flew on a Sunday morning to Smugglers’ Notch, and stayed there for four nights as we tested out many of the amazing family friendly activities there. Our stay was more fun than we ever imagined, and it’s really easy to see why Smugglers’ Notch consistently is ranked Number 1 Kid Friendly Ski Resort in the Eastern U.S and Canada. I have shared some of the fantastic winter sports we tried at Smugglers’ Notch, like the Cat Trax Express, and I shared an overview of the resort as well last week here: Smuggler’s Notch: One of the Best…

Riding The Cat Trax Express Up Madonna Mountain at Smugglers’ Notch

    February 10, 2016 /

We are climbing up the side of Madonna Mountain. It feels like we are hanging pretty much vertically inside the cabin of a decommissioned trail groomer, defying gravity. My brain tells me this is impossible, but I am willing to give it a try. The kids are vibrating with anticipation. Fingers crossed, I am hoping that this ride rewards me with the most spectacular view at the top of the mountain. I plan to try to capture some of the Cat Trax evening Upper Mountain Tour experience in pictures that will last me long after we have left Smugglers’ Notch family ski resort, Vermont. Riding The Cat Trax Express The Cat Trax Express…

I am a Smuggler. Actually the Schuck family are all Smugglers. Ermitage Du Lac, Tremblant, Quebec

    May 20, 2015 /

Spacious Accommodations at Mont Tremblant I wish that I had taken more pictures of the inside of our suite at Ermitage du Lac, Mont Tremblant when we stayed there earlier this year. Ermitage Du Lac was one of the biggest suites we have ever stayed in as a family. Three massive self contained bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, plus a large kitchenette and gorgeous views. Can you imagine? My kids thought they were in paradise (No arguments over who slept where and no yelling as someone hammered on a bathroom door for the other to speed it up. No, none of that because we each had our own bathrooms.)…
