Our first trip of the new year was to Holiday Valley Ellicottville and I can now see what all the buzz is about for skiers. Upstate New York is a pretty quick drive from several areas of Ontario and for us it was about 4 hours door to door. The ski runs were lovely, wide and long, and several of the blues won my heart fast. Despite a not very snowy early January, we took our chances and drove down at the tail end of Christmas break. Luckily the snow was decent and we enjoyed about 30 of the runs.…

So how did I move more in 2018? Early this year I did that typical exercise you will see all over the Internet in January in which you chose a phrase or word to guide the year. My word of the year is a personal philosophy and also a goal to aspire to for the 365 days of the year. This is important for me every single January, because it helps give me some focus and provides a challenge as well. Looking back over these word of the year commitments that I have chosen consistently since 2014 I realized they…

It’s almost ski season and that means it’s almost time to pack for a ski trip. Packing for a ski vacation is easier with a little organization. I say easier because there’s a lot of gear and a lot to remember too. But, the best way to make sure you have everything required for your trip is to start a list of course. You won’t want to leave anything important behind because let’s be honest it’s cold out there and also expensive. YOU don’t want to get to your destination missing something vital and then have to buy it or…

Vermont skiing is our happy place. As you can probably tell from the many posts I’ve done on the subject, we are a family of skiers. My entire family came to this game late. I only learned how to ski in my 40s!! But ever since that first season when we strapped ski boots on and took lessons at Mont Tremblant, we were hooked. We love to get out on the slopes for the day and then return to a cozy, warm room to relax and unwind. We’ve skied in several places but one of our favorite places to ski…

Others have accommodations nearby. And some have a mix. So what’s the story with Bromley Mountain? Well I am here to tell you everything I found out when we researched and then stayed at Bromley recently. If you plan a stay this season…

January was a hot mess. Actually maybe not even a HOT mess. Just a mess. But back at the start of January I wrote a post about my word of the year. My word this year is MOVE. So I thought it worthwhile to do a quick word of the year checkup to keep myself accountable to all of you. So here that is – my word of the year checkup. Month one. I am generally good about keeping personal goals. 2017 and mindfulness was the exception to that one. And if you know me at all then you know…

We started out twice on the morning we planned to meet up with our host at Mad River Glen. German Flats Road is slippery and winding. One of those mountain roads that you only find in ski states like Vermont, where there are signs dotting the roadway that say Moose Crossing. Clearly, we’re not in London anymore. All along the highway on the way into Vermont I marvelled at the strange winding single lane mountain roads. Our GPS threaded us through the APP Gap, and eventually we made it through to Sugarbush Resort where we stayed. For two days we skied,…
