Gatineau and Outaouais Region Celebrate Canada 150
This year Gatineau in the Outaouais Region of Quebec has some remarkable reasons to visit. MosaiCanada 150 and the brand new Canadian History Hall exhibit in the Museum of Canadian History were the most powerfully charged of all the experiences I had this summer travel season. If you are Canadian, you need to see this. It’s hard not to be moved seeing Canada’s history on display. MosaiCanada 150 and the new exhibit together are powerful narratives about Canada’s story. Gatineau Becomes a Riot of Colour Summer is short in Canada and this year it vanished quickly, with the strange cool and rainy weather we had in much of southern Ontario.…

Here the sights and sounds of the International Blues Festival wake you up and lull you to sleep in the middle of the month of July at gorgeous Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. On the 24th ever occasion of the Festival International Du Blues De Tremblant I am visiting with a group of travel writers. How to Make The Most Of The Last Days of Summer
This post is sponsored by Bayer. To make sure these products are right for you, always read and follow the label. Summer always flies by much too fast. July, my favourite of all the months, slides by at a maddening speed. It is a quicksilver month. If you don’t squeeze a lot into that short little window it vanishes right before your eyes. Hopefully you had some great weekends, or a vacation at some point there. August brings with it a sense of urgency almost. I mean at some point in August everyone starts counting down the days left until school starts. That always makes me sad. Summer should be so…

Water Safety – Keeping Kids Safe While They Have Fun
Water safety is something that should be in the forefront of every parent’s mind. Whether you have a pool, love the water park, visit the beach, or go swimming in your local lake or river, being safe on and near the water is crucial. All it takes is a few seconds for a tragedy to happen. Parents and caregivers can keep kids safe by making sure we practice proper water safety at all times. Why Water Safety is so Important Our kids were babies when we began swimming lessons through the Red Cross Canada program. Swimming is a lifeskill that is not negotiable for me. I was a late swimmer…

After the winter months, let’s face it we all crave a bit of sun and warm patio weather. But, did you know that yeast infections can occur more frequently in summer months? Yes, you read that right. For many women, the warmer temperature brings an increased risk of the“itch” that nobody likes to talk about – yeast infections. Not so surprisingly, yeast infections affect a lot of women. Approximately five per cent of women experience reoccurring yeast infections (3 to 4 infections in the last year)[1]. And I have met maybe 1-2 women n my life who have never had a yeast infection. But nobody likes to talk about them or…

Stop Telling Me How To Do Summer – My Summer Mantra
I have a summer mantra this year. It’s a little bit like this You do you and I’ll do me. It’s definitely not new. It’s mine, and I don’t really care to hear anyone else’s opinion about how I do summer. YOU DO YOU. See, I wish I actually didn’t need to say this out loud. But get your hands off my summer. You do you. My summer mantra. YOU do your summer and I’ll do mine. This past two weeks since school ended, I’ve heard a zillion experts and read dozens of posts about people taking back their summer. Usually that involves terms like let your children discover the great…
