What is it about owls? Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated with owls. Not sure when that started, but I definitely recall being a Brownie and following along to a leader called Brown Owl. She was wise and smart. Then, as an adult along came the Harry Potter series and frankly Harry’s Owl is one of my favourite owls of all time. If you like owls, then don’t miss this roundup of Harry Potter gifts this season. When my kids were little we would go to Storybook Gardens and there was always an owl there –…

When I launched this site over ten years ago my main goal was to talk about saving money. I was a stay at home mom then working hard at raising two little girls we had recently adopted from London-Middlesex Children’s Aid Society. Over the last decade, my site has evolved dramatically and now my posts are largely travel writing, health writing and parenting stories that resonate with readers. However, I know my audience and you LOVE to give, but you also love giveaways and saving money. Every year I share some of the best Christmas Printables here. This year, I…

My Christmas Wish List. If there was a single phrase that could evoke childhood and the spirit of Christmas long ago for me, then I think it would be My Christmas Wish List. Post may contain affiliate links as a service to readers. I receive a small commission via qualifying links. Do you remember being small, poring over catalogues or flyers that arrived in the mail, circling items you dreamed of owning? For me, as a child, it was always dolls and Barbies. Meanwhile my brother lived for the latest race cars and trucks and puzzles. I have a daughter…

Oh my goodness we have rarely travelled as much as we did together in 2019. Now that ski season is almost here again my youngest daughter keeps asking: “Hey Mom, can we do a trip like we did last season?” Kids Can Reflect on a Fun Year Too! Last season, for your information we took an epic trip of 12 Days, nine to ten of those were straight days of skiing!” Yes, ski season was fantastic this year! I wish we could do an epic trip like that every single year, but it seems unlikely. Sometimes, these trips come together…

WE are huge dinosaur nuts here. We can’t get enough of them actually. Ever since we watched the first Jurassic Park movie the kids have been mesmerized. Well, to be honest they were both super into dinosaurs when they were small. But then they kind of lost interest for a bit. In between all of our Marvel movie marathons and the Harry Potter phase too (which frankly is still ongoing), we rediscovered a love of dinosaurs. My youngest daughter’s latest obsession with dinosaurs is drawing them and she’s getting pretty good. Of course dinosaur crafts are a huge hit too.…

Use these Sign Language Flash Cards and Memory Game to nurture a love of languages this year. These are perfect for any age. I have been a language lover from the time I was young. At about 7 years old I wrote a booklet with a male classmate. It was grade two, I think, and we made a big splash with our words and storytelling and I knew pretty much from that age that I’d be a writer in some capacity. In those early days language and learning and words were everything to me. Family too, of course. Things haven’t…

It’s officially spring. This year I have shared some monthly colouring pages for your personal use. Today I figured you would enjoy this cute and fun spring colouring page printable too. It seems everyone looks forward to spring. I actually enjoy the winter months because of ski season. When the skiing stops I get a little bit sad. Skiers can relate I’m sure. Whether you love spring or sadly put the ski gear away and grieve a bit for the loss of snow, we can all agree the change of seasons is a challenge. Daylight savings time can be awful…
