This is a sponsored conversation in partnership with Harmony Books. My opinion is all my own and it is truthful. What exactly is dieting backwards? This is a question I began asking myself as soon as this new book arrived here. These early days of 2016 I’ve been reading a lot of the content coming out of a huge consumer electronics show. Many posts are focused on uncovering the next big thing – while also reflecting on what has been the most disruptive technology of the past year, even the past decade. I like that phrase a lot actually ‘disruptive technology.’…

It’s no gigantic secret that I have a sweet tooth. Through all my fitness and dietary journeys there’s that one thing I cannot seem to change. My sweet tooth. But guess what? I think you have a sweet tooth too! Today I searched for my most popular recipes from this past year on Thrifty Momma’s Tips and they were all desserts. Apparently readers love sweets too. So here is a little sweet treat recap of my three most popular dessert recipes this year. Best Butter Tarts on the Planet: These are some of our favourite simple treats ever. They are easy…

Do you want to build a snowman? Good luck. Now you can easily with this simple craft featuring marshmallows and pretzel sticks. EASY PEASY. This Frozen inspired Olaf Marshmallow Craft is so much fun. One of my kid’s teachers used to say – Don’t play with your food until you’ve eaten all your toys! But this Olaf marshmallow craft is a little bit of both – edible food, craft and a toy. So this is one instance where you can play with your food and have fun building a miniature Frozen Olaf Marshmallow Craft toy. It’s the best of all worlds…

Easy, Fantastic and Family Friendly! That’s the trifecta of all great recipes in this house. In fact, the easier the better some nights! And well, easy also means that sometimes kids who are 11 and 14 can actually take the lead in cooking it. That makes this Mom happy. There’s nothing my one daughter loves more than pizza – well, unless it is peanut butter. I think she could live on those two foods regularly. Not at the same time of course, but she’d be totally okay having them both back to back I think. Not that we’ve ever tried. Anyways…

Whoever said don’t give appliances for Christmas wasn’t talking about the Breville Scraper Mixer Pro. This little beauty is as sparkly as any jewel in my books. If you have a person who loves to bake, the Breville Scraper Mixer Pro is the gift that will make them light up this holiday. I have been asking Santa for a big beautiful blender mixer for two years. It never worked out….I thought I was getting one last year potentially…I mean I was good and everything. I rarely made the naughty list…but sadly husband was completely overwhelmed by the stand mixer options…

Well there are few treats in life I love so much as I do fudge. It’s the perfect food, especially when it is fresh, creamy, and soft enough to cut for a group, or maybe just for you. At Christmas, fudge can be a gorgeous savoury sweet little gift to tell someone thank you, or even just because. I have the world’s biggest sweet tooth and so I will without doubt be making some of these delicious recipes this year. There’s something about fudge that meets all my sweet tooth requirements. Of course if you are looking for something else…

It’s now well into November and honestly it’s starting to look a bit more like winter around here. There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to bake. This year I have a gorgeous new Breville Scraper Mixer Pro which is clearly going to be my new Christmas toy and present just for me!! Also it is already inspiring this Mom to generate some creative cookies and recipes in the kitchen. Baking is so much more fun with the right tools! Don’t you agree? This year I thought it would be nice to share with you a collection…

If you know me at all, then you are aware of my love for chai latte. Chai tea latte is my favourite beverage on the planet. I can drink it all year round but it’s my favourite thing to order from Starbucks when I travel. There’s something very comforting and smooth about a chai tea latte. This season I love experimenting with the flavours that are Fall and Winter standbys. This time of year gingerbread is a smooth partner in so many holiday recipes. Gingerbread cookies and treats are synonymous with Christmas. Gingerbread is to Christmas what pumpkin is to…

I am a fan of family time. But as the kids get older it is harder to carve time out for things like Family Game Night or Family Movie Night. Family game night is a tradition in our household. It’s a chance to disconnect from iPads, iPods, iTouches, and Android whatevers for a few hours and just be together. We love board games of all types, but lately our favorite game night activity is the Pie Face game. It’s a ton of fun. Family Game Night with Pie Face and Gay Lea The Pie Face game is exactly what it sounds like.…
