Do you know someone who is on a gluten free diet? Are you on a gluten free diet? I read something recently in market trends that indicated what I already suspected. Gluten free eating is a way of life. In fact, gluten free eating is a lifestyle for as many as 44 million people.

So what is gluten? Many people actually still don’t know what gluten is, so don’t feel bad if you fumble for the words to explain what gluten is. Gluten is a type of protein found in grains like wheat. Many people cut gluten out of their diet to test the idea that gluten has impact on behaviour and energy.  This is the fastest growing segment of people on a gluten free diet. Roughly one percent of those who are gluten free have celiac disease.  For that group of people gluten actually harms the intestinal lining of their digestive tracts and that causes illness.

Some people are gluten intolerant, but the biggest group avoiding gluten is health conscious consumers worried that grains have been modified. That group is striving for a healthier diet. Although many might have thought this a passing fad it’s clear gluten free eating is here to stay.

I was gluten free way back in my 20s for a significant period of time. I avoided a lot of foods then, at a time when my Crohn’s Disease was very acute. Back then inflammatory responses were common with a lot of foods in my diet. Right now, my health is much better and my diet is broader than in my twenties. However, I have been giving some thought to this again. Several of my readers are gluten free and that works for them. I know that finding fantastic gluten free recipes can be tricky so I thought I would round up 20 fantastic gluten free recipes for you. Hope you enjoy some of these. Thanks to the bloggers who contributed their recipes here. You might also enjoy the gluten free holiday treats post I wrote in December. And although this giveaway has ended, I also shared some new gluten free products with scrumptious baked goods here.

I’m actually not on a gluten free diet, but I love trying new recipes that are better for you which I think most gluten free recipes are. Especially dessert ones! Thanks for the great round-up – can’t wait to try some of these!

This is a great list of a ton of different recipes for people who are gluten free. Neither my husband and I are gluten free, or have any dietary restrictions, so thankfully don’t have to search too much for special recipes. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to find assorted and different recipes to try out and spice up your daily meals!

I have several friends with Gluten allergies. It really is crazy how many things actually have Gluten in them and how limiting it can be. It’s gotten easier for them the past couple years as more companies are recognizing the need to have gluten free options.

I grew up eating gluten free because my dad has celiac disease. I love that you posted some gluten free recipes because I really do love eating that way! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome post!!

I didn’t realize it could boost your energy levels to be Gluten Free. I would try it maybe for that reason alone. I always say I wish there was more time in the day, and I do, but having a little extra energy instead might even things out a bit. 🙂 The recipes you’ve shared here are a great resource for those who want to give GF a try, or those who are already living a gf lifestyle. Thank you for sharing them!

Thank you for sharing these recipes. I know so many people with gluten allergies and they always feel so restricted to what they can eat – especially when it comes to sweet treats. I don’t have a gluten allergy myself but I always feel bloated after eating wheat products so try to avoid them when I can.

I am certainly not gluten free, however I have noticed many more recipes, restaurants, and food in the supermarket are in fact gluten free. The taste is the same but better for me?! I’m in. I look forward to giving your recipes a test, thank you for sharing.

I have eaten gluten free products and such but I have not made it a full time thing. If I happen to grab something gluten free then cool, if not, then cool. Haha. Either way I am cool. However, I am always down to trying new recipes! I love trying new foods and enjoying different combinations. Thank you for sharing these amazing recipes!

I am really not conscious about the gluten contents of the food I ate.. maybe because I am not familiar with gluten free diet and the benefits it gives. I will read more about this but I am bookmarking your blog for the recipes!

Thank you. I continue to debate whether I will resume this diet or not here. I think that lately the amount of sluggishness and the bloating I feel is gross and I need a fix. This might be it.
