For years I have oogled and envied my friend’s Dyson vacuum cleaners. But the price tag has just seemed a bit out of reach for a thrifty shopper like me. At least, until very recently. This summer Dyson emailed to let me know they had a new version of their well known beautiful workhorse of a vacuum. This version, the Walmart Dyson DC33 Origin, sells for a very manageable price, just under $400. It’s also available at Walmart. So, I had to see it for myself. The Walmart Dyson DC33 Origin is a gorgeous looking vacuum cleaner. Hard to say…

IVF Math really isn’t that complicated. Areas of the world that fund in vitro fertilization, with a stipulation of single embryo transfer, save money. The above IVF funding in Alberta infographic breaks it down. In 2013 the Government of Alberta commissioned a report done by the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health to review the province’s approach to IVF. That report indicated the province could save as much as $179 million over the course of 18 years if single embryo transfer were publicly funded and IVF regulated. Alberta, like much of the rest of the country, is forced to…

After age 50, better health can be directly affected by certain tests. As we age, we become prone to certain diseases. So men and women over the age of 50 should not neglect certain testing. These tests could mean the difference between better health and disaster. Better Health – Don’t Put Off These Tests Let me just say from the beginning that none of us are going to like most of these tests. They can be uncomfortable. No one is a fan of discomfort, especially when it comes to medical procedures. However, these tests are vital to better health…

Summer road trips and business trips go hand in hand here. My summer has been filled with business trips. But the positive side of that is that my business is doing well. So I can’t complain about that. And I am able to combine my business trips with pleasure. So just last week I was able to do a quick business trip while also visiting my sweet niece and nephews in Toronto. That’s pretty fantastic, the best of both worlds, really. And there was New York City this summer, also always a treat! This coming week I am finally able…

For a few months now I have been talking about and sharing information regarding a new app that I love. Trymester will help any Canadian planning to have a baby now, or hoping to have one some time in the future. Trymester App is designed to help educate all Canadians about their fertility. Frankly, everyone can use more information on fertility and infertility. Information and education is power. Nobody could argue with that. If you want to learn more about Trymester APP available on the iPad join me, and Margarita Ibbott, and Linked Moms for a twitter event that I…

Once in awhile I write a post and the feedback I get is so clever that I learn something brand new. That’s a great side effect of blogging and having some super creative readers. This is one of those occasions. I wrote a post a few weeks ago about Carefree pantyliners and I asked you for your life hacks in general and also your pantyliner life hacks, or alternative uses for pads and liners. A couple of savvy people I know in real life (yeah I have real life friends I have met too actually.) have been using liners and…

Remember earlier this year when I got a gorgeous batch of sexy new Fiesta dishes in slate? Well, over the summer I have been building my Fiesta collection. It has been such a glorious highlight of the summer. The Fiesta brand is colourful and durable and these dishes make me proud to serve a meal or a special appetizer. That’s what I love about Fiesta. They are traditional with a little hit of fun colour and so much sophistication. Over the summer I was guest pinner on Fiesta’s Pinterest account. And now that I am done that I am here…

It’s not a news flash to anyone here that I have Crohn’s Disease. I talk about that periodically. Some days are brutally painful and some are not. I have been doing this dance since I was 14 so I have some strategies to manage my illness. My one daughter has had strange joint pain and a limp for six months now – that might be juvenile arthritis, or a bone problem or anything at this point. It’s clearly not anything broken though. We are still going through testing and appointments to determine what is going on with her. That same daughter also…

By now you have probably searched how to get rid of wasps naturally many times this summer. Is there anything more annoying in the summer months than wasps? There’s a point in August where every time I set foot in my outdoor office (i.e.. my deck in the backyard) I am practically swarmed by wasps. That makes me nuts. But at the same time I don’t want to spray harsh chemicals around the yard. I mean we play there all the time and I work there too. So how do you get rid of wasps naturally? Is it even possible,…
