Rainbow Loom – Tween Girls Gifts #TMMGG2013
No question this one is the runaway hit of the season. My Aunt Pat bought a fabulous Rainbow Loomfor my girls way back in August when they had a sleepover at her new house. Ever since then the Rainbow Loom has been all I read about or see. You can count the Moms of tweens at centergy class just by looking at their wrists for the colourful bracelets. So what’s the Rainbow Loom all about? It’s simply a cool plastic loom on which you wrap colourful elastics and design various fancy bracelets, necklaces, rings and ornaments. There is no end to what you can do with the loom. There are…

Support #WorldPrematurityDay #ohip4ivf #onpoli
Today several Canadian landmarks will turn purple to mark World Prematurity Day. Did you know: 1 in 10 babies are born premature? That’s 15 million a year. Today Canadian Premature Babies Foundation and its parent partners will light up many Canadian landmarks in honour of prematurely born babies and their health struggles. As community manager for Conceivable Dreams, Generations of Hope and IVF4BC, World Prematurity Day is a cause I can wholeheartedly support. Conceivable Dreams is the Ontario based advocacy group for patients seeking public funding for in vitro fertilization. Generations of Hope Fertility Assistance Fund helps Alberta couples who cannot pay for IVF. They support public funding in Alberta. IVF4BC…

On the Move #ldnont Painted Hallway Reveal
BEFORE This was our hallway before we started the massive decluttering and renovations here. We had wallpaper and toys and a big wooden coat rack that we liked. It was a hallway we lived in and raced through, a thoroughfare that was often lined with backpacks and homework and spare car seats. When we moved in 14 years ago we wallpapered and put crown mouldings in and hung pictures and used the tiniest space in the hallway alcove as an office. My office was essentially a corner with a computer and two filing cabinets. Oh, and a chair too. When we decided to get ready to move we knew we…

Winter Beauty Problems SoftLips #Giveaway
What is your number one skin care problem in the winter? I have a whole host of issues that are specific to the season. It’s super annoying and frustrating every year to have dry skin and hair the moment the heat comes on in my home. I also hate static. It ruins most every hairdo from November on until Spring. And dry lips? Don’t even get me started. My whole family has super dry lips starting now. Actually cold and flu season does a number on lips, doesn’t it? I received some Soft Lips products several months ago actually and made not of how light the product and packaging was.…

My Hiking Partner #WordlessWednesday #ldnont Linky
We have been on a quest to get our house ready for sale and life is very disrupted right now with boxes everywhere, toys in storage and a series of contractors coming in and out of our home. The other day we dropped an old toddler bed off at a friend’s house and discovered a beautiful walking trail over in Oakridge area. So we stopped the van, jumped out and took a hike. It must be noted this was the day my girl, 9, insisted on wearing high heeled clogs that are 2 sizes too large for her feet. I think our hike cured her of that phase. Wink.

An Early Christmas Present to You – Top Three Reasons For Public Funding in Alberta #infertility #ABHC4IVF #ABPOLI
There are so many reasons to support funding for in vitro fertilization in every province of Canada. I outlined my five reasons why I personally think public funding makes sense for Alberta in a post on my blog before. But it gets even simpler when you pare it right down. I am an advocate. I have been for a long time. More years than I care to share. This year I will again drop everything and race off to Toronto when I am asked to speak up on behalf of adoptive families at public pre-budget hearings. I have learned a few things over the course of well over a decade.…

Pear Tree Greetings Christmas Cards #Giveaway
I intended to order business Christmas cards last year, but never got around to it. Then this past month Pear Tree Greetings approached me and asked if I’d take a look at their designs. They offered a free credit, no strings attached. So I spent some time playing around at Pear Tree Greetings and I found great variety, innovative designs, some teacher stationery gifts I liked for the holidays and some lovely Christmas cards. Chalk Board Teacher stationery is perfect for my daughter’s grade seven teacher. Who doesn’t adore pretty paper, or cards? I love the many options for baby showers, thank you cards and graduation gifts, but what caught…
