Walmart Canada #MOTY Finalists and Inspirations #adoption
At the start of the summer I was fortunate to work with Walmart Canada to promote this incredible (soon- to-be annual) Mom of The Year campaign. So many Moms qualify for Mom of the Year every year because of the Herculean efforts juggling so many important things every day. Kids, work, marriage, volunteer commitments and sometimes caring for grandparents too. So here’s a big fat pat on the back for every Mom out there who deserves recognition. Hip Hip Hooray for Moms everywhere. Kudos to Walmart Canada for recognizing Moms in Canada. This is the kind of campaign that makes me want to do more of my shopping at Walmart.…

Happy Guacamole Day and a #CanBTS #giveaway of Wholly Guac and Beanitos
Just in time for National Guacamole Day I have a great giveaway for you! I arrived home the other day from a lengthy meeting which was over lunch and I hadn’t eaten and I found this. Boring Lunch Survival Kit and a mess of yummy Beanitos chips. That just made my day and I want to return the favor to someone else who may or may not be familiar with either of these products: Beanitos and Wholly Guacamole dips. I have been a fan of Beanitos for a very long time. I won a case of them well over a year ago, and they were shipped up here from the…

On Things That Mothers Keep
Some day when my hair is silver grey and you are older you will find tiny baby teeth held back from the tooth fairy`s vast collection, random works of my kindergarten Picassos and every hand-drawn card my grandchildren ever sent me. When I am old and you are older and all this is meant to be emptied, divided up, sold off or given out you will find the cards I forgot to send and some that were sent to me when my heart was full and I was young and I made my mark on the world as a teacher, a Mom, or even just someone who cared. Oh you…

What Hooked Me First #PTPAInsider
What hooked me first was the hair. Oh, I’m deadly serious here. Anyone who hangs out at PTPA media web site, or watches the great televised appearances of the PTPA (parent tested and parent approved) winner’s list of products knows who I am talking about when I say PTPA and hair in the same sentence. I am of course, talking about CEO Sharon Vinderine. A couple of years ago at a digital media conference, PTPA CEO Sharon Vinderine spoke. And then again last year at She’s Connected 2011. Vinderine is a savvy business woman and the head of a really dynamic business, named Parent Tested, Parent Approved. I see PTPA…

What Happens When Tornado Girls Meet Hurricanes #WordlessWednesday
My oldest daughter’s birthday was this summer and we took a few kids to see Brave, which was a perfect summer birthday movie. Afterwards they all hopped in to the Hurricane Simulator in the lobby of Rainbow Cinemas at Galleria London. Or Citiplaza as it is now called. If you look closely you can almost make out Ainsley’s eye under all that hair. The wind speed is located over her head. Sometimes I have been known to call her my tornado girl. I once wrote a piece about it for the Globe and Mail and it was dubbed Look Out For My Tornado Girl. I just realized now that…

Fun Family Fitness with Zamzee and a #Giveaway
Have you heard of Zamzee? Well, picture a pedometer for kids with an attached USB that earns you great prizes like an iPod shuffle, or XBox games. Fun Family Fitness with incentives like prizes and games that encourage more activity. Got your attention? Are you up off the couch lunging for the computer to find out how to order one? Well, what are you waiting for? Both my girls got Zamzees from Blogher 12. They were souvenirs from the many exhibitors. Now, anyone who knows me, or knows my kids also knows we are one of the busiest, active families around. Combined we do: martial arts, swimming, pilates, acting, singing,…

When Celebrities Reveal Infertility: Khloe Kardashian
Source: cdn.blogs.sheknows.com via Emily on Pinterest I am not the world’s biggest fan of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I have never really fully understood the appeal of the show, or the claim to fame for any of the members of the family. But this crossed my desk today and I took notice. Last night’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was all about babies and fertility issues. Khloe Kardashian, seen here, married to Lamar Odom, visited a fertility clinic with her sister. Khloe and Lamar have had difficulty conceiving a child and have yet to receive an explanation for the infertility. Now, I am not privvy to how…
